Description:
Serves as Senior System Administrator (SA) on site subject matter expert for all LINUX, Windows back and recovery customer IT support requirements. Additional day-to-day responsibilities include administration of LINUX and Windows equipment and monitoring/resolving problems in a world-wide network of LINUX servers and workstations.
The SA shall provide on-site customer support function, answering and responding to all reported systems concerns and/or system outages.
Installs hardware and software, conducts system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software and security related problems.
Performs system backups and recovery.
Maintains user accounts, data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Conducts informal training, maintains documentation, and provides front line support for IT related problems.
Provides on-site scheduled, on call, extended hour and weekend support as required. The ability travel to CONUS and OCONUS including hostile areas and perform SA support functions is required.
Provides input to the design of the organizations systems and mission architecture.
Analyzes and resolves complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration.
Participates in technical interchange meetings (TIMs), with government personnel and delivers Conference, Trip, and routine Status Reports as required.
Minimum 6 years of experience as a LINUX / Windows System Administrator.
Successful candidate will be willing and able to explain system architecture, problem causes, results and solutions to junior co-workers.
Experience/Education:
Experience in the following areas is essential: demonstrated LINUX and UNIX; Windows data backup administration using Veritas software tape backup systems; ability to write clear, concise problem descriptions and their solutions; Desired: Ethernet network protocols; Oracle on a network environment. Knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet network protocols a plus.

A degree in a computer-related area is desired. An MCSE and/or LINUX certification is desired. 5 years of experience as a LINUX system administrator is required and at least 5 years of experience in Windows system administration is required. Must have working knowledge of LINUX and networking.
Special Requirements:
LINUX Server to VM - Container enterprise migration experience
Formal Project Management training
Experience with Oracle on a network environment
Familiarity with Local Area Network (LAN) protocols
Knowledge of Cisco routers
